rudder bingee

So replacing rudder down control line on 2016 tandem island....almost impossible to knot the new spectra line coming from tube to black nylon line going to t-handles at the correct spot for proper tension...I have it done and the rudder will lock down, however the handles won't retract...apparently I don't completely understand where and how the bungee both attaches to the black control line and/or where that bungee "anchors" to the rear to work perfectly... I have spent countless hours looking at diagrams and videos---best I saw was that " anchor point varies depending on model year"--not much help...Why oh why with Hobie being a multimillion dollar international company can't they post decent photographs of the lines inside the boats for all of the different years--some posts say the down line is an easy fix, well not for me---I can use the boat without the handles retracting but prefer to have it work the way it's supposed to--thanks for any help
