When I try to unfurl the main sail on my 2015 AI, the spinnaker halyard gets twisted around the mast and sail. The problem seems to be that the top batten prevents the spinnaker mast head from freely rotating.

I also noticed the sail furls in such a way that the sail folds and creases. I don't know if this is normal, but it seems like it has to do with the battens. Any ideas? Am I missing something?

You can trim a little piece from the batten.

Here is a clarification... Trim the extra piece off the BOTTOM of the batten. This way you don't need to stuff around (like I did...) trying to remove the black top fitting, or buying a new one... After trimming the bottom of the batten, cover the loose fibres with superglue for a neater finish.
