I’ve got the PA 14 and the trailer in two separate purchases used. The trailer had the Hobie cradles for the sailing kayak with outriggers. I’ve taken those off.

What’s the simplest way to rig this up? Buy the correct cradles or go with PVC?

How far are those cradles apart?

I’ve read other post on PVC. How far are the two cross members apart supporting the PVC? How long is the PVC overall?

You could either purchase the cradles specific your your PA or a lot use the PVC pipes (roughly 11 apart). Most use 2.5"-3" OD PVC.

If you already have the crossbars, either way would be easy. the PVC is cheap. You could probably set it up with hardware for under $40. Why not give it a try first.

I have two trailers set up (one with PVC and one with cradles). Both work well.

Also, PM me if you are thinking about selling the island cradles.

If you plan on using PVC, lay your PA-14 upside down, then lay the PVC into the hull valleys......you will notice there is a slight taper along the length and can measure the exact spacing for the PVC.
