Rod Holders

What rod holders is everyone using? I'm looking to pick up a few... Probably RAM but just curious whats out there. Post some pics.

Here is mine setup:

At work, so I can't access my Photobucket account until I get home. I bought the RAM Jr rod holders (Zooka tubes under YakAttack branding) for the 2013 PA14 and have been very happy with them. I have a pair of Cabellas rod holders on the 2012 PA14. The RAM Jr tubes are nice in the fact that they have slots for you to lock your spinning reels (or baitcasters) into so the rod will not pull out. There are no moving parts to have to move to lock the rod/reel in place. You just rotate the spinning rod slightly putting it in and out of the holder.

Two things about RAM versus Scotty. The Scotty mounts seem to be better machined and a little more robust as far as where the post attach to the flush mounts. Smoother and easier operation. Not faulting the RAM mounts I have. They work fine.

Also if you're considering the Ram Jr or Zooka tubes, for spinning reels they are only designed for "one side". There is no "Left" and "Right" side in regards to the reels locking in the tubes. I used my trusty Dremel tool to make one of the tubes and opposite version so the tubes hold the rod/reels in opposite configurations in regards to port and starboard orientation.

Here are the pictures of the 2 front Ram Jr rod holders. If you look closely at the left side holder, you can see where I cut out the extra slot so the rods/reels would both sit on the opposite sides of the post when in the holders.

@stubbs: Where did you get those rod leashes?

@johnnybravo: What makes up ur anchor system? What kind of reel is on ur anchor?

I take my anchor form Cooper Anchors and the reel is Divers Reel with 80M Line

I made the rod leashes. I made 4 in red and 2 in black. I mostly use them away from home. They are made from Scotty clips and 1 foot phone receiver cords (that stretch to 6 feet). Originally I had the Scotty clips attached around the reels, but found some small black "D-rings" and attached those to my reels using zip ties. Happier with that solution. Here's a shot of the reels using the "D-rings".

I did a no holes drilled install using 4 Scotty rod holders mounted 2 to a side on the rails on my 14' PA:


I did not want to drill any holes anywhere and I did not want anything on the sides ahead of the seat to possible trip over getting in and out. I have found that having the rods right next to the seat and having the FF right next to the seat has worked well for me, easy to see and adjust the FF and easy to grab a rod to bring in a fish.
