I created a set of tubes that also act as a ramp so that I can slide my PA14 into the bed of my truck.

I can provide photos -- as I have had no luck posting them on this forum. You can contact me at ... [email protected]

With a short bed it's recommended to use a bed extender like the Boonedox T-bone, but if you opt out of adding the bed extender then I'd recommend loading the kayak into your bed stern first. Take tie-down straps and run one from each rear corner of your truck bed, through the Mirage Drive well and back to the corner of the truck bed. This will prevent the yak from slide out of the truck bed.
Take another tie-down strap and run it from one forward corner of the truck bed, over the stern, and to the other corner of the truck bed where you'll cinch it down to prevent the PA from rocking and moving side to side. This has been secure in my experiences. Also, don't forget a safety flag to alert other drivers of the overhanging load.
