For some reason, I can't raise the rudder with the pull cord. if I use something to prop up the rudder to the up position, I can pull the cord easily, cleat it and it stays up as normal. I can release it, and it drops normally. The only way to get it up again is the manually raise the rudder from behind the kayak, and then cleat it.
Checking the rudder up/down line there appears to be nothing binding the cables inside the hull itself, ( as evidenced by being able to easily cleat it after manually raising the rudder, and easily lowering it ).
Removing the the cover over the steering cam, I can see where the cable is wearing a grove at the hole that drops down to the rudder itself and that seems to be where is binding. I can manually pull it rudder up from the top, but if I let the cord sit in the grove, it binds.
