Feeling kindof bad this evening, mostly because my impression of the intelligence of dolphins was knocked down a few notches this afternoon. My son and I were on a starboard tack doing around 20 mph when we saw a dolphin on a collision course with us from the port side. It surfaced just a few feet away, took a breath, and went down. I thought, "OK, it's going to stay down and go right beneath us". Nope, surfaced again, just in time for our port hull to smack it on the back just in front of it's dorsal fin. It bolted forward and almost got hit again by the starboard hull. Flipper must have been the exception....
