A used bridle vane went for $28 plus shipping a few weeks ago (new is $16.95ish).

Hey, wait a minute guys... You can download all of the information in that 'learn to sail' booklet from here:

There's a PDF that you can printout. And while you're at it look at the 'How to right your Hobie' . Then check out the 'How to Trap'.
