A Hobie 14 std fell into my lap while I was working on my 16 getting ready for this summer, neglected for years left out under a pine tree, the hulls and frame are in good shape and cleaned up nice.

I have decided to refit the boat, $550 at Murrays so far for new rigging and tramp I figure another $150 to have the sail fixed, so about 700 to 800 for the boat, think it’s worth it?

I’m on the fence about adding dolphin striker kit, $80 for the kit, The boat is going to be used at RBSA by Nieces and Nephews mostly teenagers in the 125 to 180 lb range, I would hate to not get the kit and have the boat torn up.

I have never sailed a 14 so I welcome opinions or thoughts on a good setup to start with on my new old boat.

Thanks
Ballast Boy
