Just wanted to share some pics of my new Hobie 16! It's in pretty good condition but I'm cleaning it up, patching a few small chips and replacing most of the rigging, hardware and lines.

Image

Stripped it and got rid of the tattered rail rug and all the contact cement.

Image

The rails came out pretty nice. I have the Surefoot EVA Grip Kit from Murrays ordered.

Can't wait to get her on the water! More pics and updates coming soon.

I can't wait for summer to get here either! It's probably a good thing that I tore the boat apart, otherwise I might have gone out this weekend and it's only 45 degrees...

Arrgghh! We had 70 degree weather last week but the lakes are still frozen. And it snowed today. Northern Illinois/Southern Wisconsin.

Lakes are free of Ice here in Waukesha cty Wi. You must have had more snow cover in N Illinois. Should be up to 50 on Sunday, even though we had snow today.

There's always hardcore sailing for those who can't wait for summer.

For those of us lucky to live where their is no snow or ice (hurricanes and storm surge instead), that is not snow or ice on those two pictures that I posted on March 2nd on this topic.

The first picture is of white sand, instead of snow.

The second picture is not ice but the aftermath of sailing thru a nest of jelly fish.
