In order for this wonderful Hobie nation to continue as it does, each
of us needs to put in our time helping to put on regattas. Failing to
understand this one item seriously alientates you from the special
chemistry that makes sailing Hobie Cats so much fun!
Towards that end, you will have a chance on Feb. 23rd to attend a
special Race Management Seminar put on by our very own Leslie Keller in
connection with US SAILING. This is your one chance to figure out why
there is a port bias to starting lines, and how much bias you should
throw in. It also answers your questions like whether the committee
can move the weather mark after the warning signal.
By understanding what a committee can and cannot do, this seminar will
improve your skills as a competitor. More importantly, it will allow
you to give back to the sport of Hobie.
The seminar will be held at Corinthian Yacht Club at Shilshole on Feb.
23rd. More info is available at
http://www.cycseattle.org/2008_specific/racemanage.html.

For a number of reasons, I hope to see you there!
