Epic single-handing sail today

I think the 16 is really, really awesome to single hand in 12-15 mph winds. As was the case for me today. The boat is so much quicker to accelerate from a tack and absolutely smokes in a reach compared with 2-up in the same conditions. I was able to trap out the entire time upwind and was practicing tacking from the wire, great fun. This was the first sail of the season using the wetsuit as it was a little chilly @ about 60 degrees, and pretty much had the main channel of the lake to myself. Awesome, sorry, just had to share. Thank you Mr. Alter for designing and building such a great toy for all of us to enjoy!

It's not really that much to do. Push the tiller over, pay out the main sail about a foot, let the jib backwind to pull the bows through windward, once the wind is 45+ degrees past center straighen the rudders, cut the jib and cleat it down on the lee side, then get into position (hiked or trapped) and sheet in the main ...and away you go. Simple as that. Just try to be smooth with your movements and try to keep the transoms up as much as possible by keeping your weight forward. Balanced and smooth and you will rarely blow a tack.

It's amazing the degree of control you have solo and fully trapped out. You are able to feel the nuances of the boat and with a better view of the sail make adjustments. The boat flies without submerging the lee hull and just performs at a much higher level.
