Main traveler cam cleat replacement

Hi everybody, I'm new to the forum

I have a 1998 Hobie 16 (Europe) with an old style mainsheet traveler swivel cam cleat. And with an old style baseplate on the rear beam. I think it's from a company called "Northfix" Looks like this:


However, I need to replace it and I'd like to use today's standard Harken cleat (with bullseye). I figured it uses a different type of baseplate on the beam.


Now my question:
Can I just replace the old baseplate by the new one? Does anybody know if the holes are the same or do I have to drill new ones??
Obviously, worst case would be when the holes wouldn't fit by a few millimeters

No idea on the hole placement... doubt they are the same.

Do you know If the Base Plate is a Hobie specific part?
Can't find it in the Harken catalog..

I posted a few years ago about overhauling some of my cleats and trying to standardize on that Harken Cammatic 150, which (on my 2000 boat) is used everywhere except the main traveler, where I had a Holt-Allen 76. According to that thread the center spacing is the same but the bolts needed to be longer.

So do any of the screws in the swivel base go into the rear cross beam or is it just that one rivet that holds the assembly to the beam? It seems if the screws in the swivel base went into the beam the forward one could hit the trampoline track, but it also seems like more that one rivet would be better.

The two aft screws go into the beam. The forward screw is a machine screw held in place with a nut under the swivel plate and does not go into thebeam.

I just replaced a tramp on a H16 and I had to back out the two aft screws slightly because they were scraping against the bolt rope of the rear tramp lacing strip. After I got the strip installed and in the correct position, I tightened the screws back down.

Back from the dead.

I removed my Holt-Allen main traveler swivel cleat assembly from the Hobie 1162 base. It is simply an older version of the current [url="https://www.allenbrothers.co.uk/product/a4466-angled-with-medium-allenite-cleat/"]Allen Brothers A4466 swivel cleat[/url] with a simple aluminum fairlead on top rather than the newer cage-style one. HA76 cleat, MB2091 round mounting base. It claims 27mm for the mounting bolt spacing, which matches the holes on my boat. Measured at the swivel base itself, I get 28mm.

The Harken 240 swivel cleat assembly shown earlier in the thread is essentially the same. It also has three holes in a circular mounting plate, but the specs show 26mm spacing on those. They probably just work well enough in the same holes. Harken shows this part as discontinued, but the 639 seems to be the same thing with extender blocks under the fairlead.

I will probably just switch the cleat to the 150, since both have the same 38mm spacing, but first I will find a Harken fairlead for the 150. The one from the HA76 would work but it isn't really shaped to sit properly on top of the 150.
