I have read many posts complaining about SeaDek's customer service, and keep wondering what is going on. Like SRAces says, if you want good customer service, talk to Paige.

That in itself is a problem. If this company is doing so well, but they only have 1 reliable person to talk to that actually knows what they are talking about, that's an issue.

My guess is that their business is booming, and they are hiring new people that don't know all about their product yet.

No successful business should use this as an excuse. It doesn't seem like rocket science to get some people in there that can answer questions about foam pads that fit in specific areas.

I also checkout OceanGrip for samples. Here is a direct quote from their website..."OceanGrip offers 2”x 2” samples of their EVA close cell foam. We can ship anywhere in the US and Canada for a low rate of $5.00 per sample plus shipping cost." That compares to SeaDek's price of $4 for as many samples as you wish. My 7 samples from SeaDek cost $4. The same 7 samples from OceanGrip would have been $35 + whatever the shipping cost would be. That alone is enough for me to be concerned about.

Did you do any kind of comparison about how much it would have cost for you to get the multiple samples you would have wanted from Ocean Grip plus whatever the kit would have cost as compared to the $4 sample from SeaDek plus what their kit costs?

Hi Steve; Thanks for your reply. I did finally get my off the shelf replacement kit. I also ordered and paid for the rear deck for my 2013-PA14 in the same order. My kit arrived on Friday minus the rear deck. I phoned and left several messages for Paige and then had a return phone call from a man (Frank?) who explained that if I wanted the rear deck it was extra. I explained that I had already paid for the extra part and he told me that he couldn't even find my order in the system. It turned out that they had spelt my name wrong three different ways and each part was under a different name. He told me he would call back before last Tuesday and he called back on Monday to let me know that the second part of my order would be expedited, cut and shipped to me at no charge. My only concern is that I may have to pay more customs on a part that I have already paid duty on.

I hope it works out for you! Post some pictures if you can. I know you can't wait for warmer weather up your way.

Today it got up to 18 degrees Celsius so I washed and cleaned the kayak and applied the front deck as well as the registered name. It looks good and feels great on the feet. Afterwards I went out and caught some fair to medium bass to christen the deck. Sorry no pictures of the fish I left the cell phone in the truck.

That looks very nice! :D I like the name on the bow as well. Hope the weather improves for you. Too much rain for me right now. Hopefully tomorrow afternoon or Sunday I'll be able to get on the water. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

FYI, Paige at SeaDek won't take your calls. She will only respond to emails, or so she tells me. In three emails in a row I asked the same question and she never answered it. She did answer most of my other concerns, though. She also badmouthed their competitor and I don't like that. To be fair and honest, I have sent two emails to OceanGrip and have yet to receive a response. Maybe they are both too busy to bother with small time customers.

I'm surprised to here so many complaints. When I first called Seadek the man I spoke with said that I needed to make mylar templates if I wanted a kit for my 12 that was one piece like the 14. I paid like $33 including shipping and started drafting... I had a few custom requests so in the end I may have needed them anyway.
I ended up emailing Paige with some questions and found out I only needed a few measurements and not the whole template kit. I never asked to be reimbursed... She offered to take it off the back end of the cost if I ordered a kit if not she would reimburse my checking account the full $33. I sent them a design also. Had to put my project on hold because I decided to buy a PA 14. It's now back in the works and they're working on my templates. They have been very helpful and answered all my questions. They meaning Paige. I never asked about the other company so I don't know about the bad mouthing but they have been very professional and I'm looking forward to receiving my templates and fitting my new PA 14! I'll post pics when its done.
I think the big problem comes from the fact that there kayak mats are so new. I don't even think they've been outfitting them for more than a year. I've read many testimonials on independent sites that say their stuff is great on larger boats. It's just new territory I think.

One of the VPs for SeaDek that I communicate with reads this forum. He is keen to the fact that their business is booming faster than they had anticipated. Customer service is very important to them. Yes the kaya side has taken off for them and especially the Pro Angler segment. I think the SeaDek material is very good and was a great investment for me.

Steve; Maybe you can ask your VP friend where my rear deck is? I paid for it almost 2 months ago!

I'm sure it's no big deal. Seadek is very busy right now. Don't worry about it.

What a great day! Went trout fishing early. Got a 3 and 4 lb'er When I got home my rear deck was at my door. I took the yak to my station and washed the slime and blood out, dried it off an here is the final product. It took a few months but I wasn't fishing then.

Congratulations! That looks very nice. :D I told Paige at SeaDek when I started my project that they should offer the camel color in their kit as that color would go with any of the three PA colors. It is a great earth tone combination with the olive PA.

Very nice fish as well!

SeaDek Army Camo (3mm) over Black (3mm) on a yellow (Hobie calls it Mango) 2012 PA14.

Many thanks to SRACES for his pioneering efforts with SeaDek.
