Hi all !!!!!

I'm trying to get my old 82 H16 ready for the season and I'm planning on re-doing the side rails this season along with the standing rigging. :D

Has anyone tried something like a roll on truck bed liner for non-skid on the side rails and/or non skid areas on the top of the hull :?:

I'm not sure what roll-on truck bed liner is, but if it's got a hard, rough grain then I'd advise against it because you can get very good traction from softer material that won't tear up whatever is wrapped around your butt. The Hobie catalog has two options, the original rail rug or neoprene. The rail rug is softer and gives good traction, but it stays wet for a long time, and if you're not careful it will get dry clothes a little wet when you don't want. The neoprene is harder, gives good traction, and dries very quickly.

There are other variations of the neoprene that are softer from other manufacturers, but durability from chafing from the the trapeze bungee cords is questionable.

Last season I bought six feet of indoor/outdoor carpet runner and a pint of contact cement from Lowes. Works great. Total investment $16. Don't use anything like truck bed liner or non-skid. It will take your skin off getting on and off the boat.

Some time ago I bought bathtub non-skid rubber in a roll. It was about 1 1/2" wide and had adhesive backing. It was the second time I did it and has lasted a few years each time. I had trouble finding it the last time I looked for it. It works fine especially with rubber wading shoes.

They aren't shroud anchors. Dave just has his trap shock cords led out to the hull instead of wrapping around the sidebars. Makes 'em last a lot longer.
