I see in the hobie cat parts catalogue - http://www.hobiecat.com/media/pdf/eSail ... tional.pdf that the part Shackle 11220000 is used to fasten the jib sail to the headstay thimble. Would I be right in assuming that the nicopress sleeve 8063501 is used to fasten the sail to the closen end thimble.

I am currently using some thin cord on both ends and I am wondering if these two parts could do a better job.

Not sure what you're asking - the wire jib halyard has a nicropressed thimble at the end, the jib luff wire also has a wire thimble. The only way to connect them is with a shackle.

The nicropress sleeve is not used for connection of a sail to anything...

For wire construction, a nicropress sleeve is slid onto the wire, the wire warps around the thimble and then back through the sleeve. This is then cinched up tight to the thimble and crushed (compressed) by tool to make a permanent loop in the wire.

When new, a nicropress sleeve looks a bit like a short double barrel from a shotgun.
