Hello everyone,
I have only two of the pylon bolts on my H14T and need to buy a new pair. A good friend of mine is selling titanium things, including titanium bolt in Grade5 Titanium which would prefectly fit the pylons.
I don't plan any race so, race legal thing doens't matter.
Any clue about using titanium parts instead of the classic stainless steel that happens to rust one day, especially in salty water ?

Regards,
Nicolas

If someone was giving me the titanium, I wouldn't take it. Titanium is highly cathodic. The aluminum castings are highly anodic.

When you put them together in a saltwater bath, you get a battery - and the aluminum castings are the sacrificial metal. They will corrode much, much faster.

The stainless steel bolts don't corrode, even in seawater - and SS is much closer to Al on the galvanic series, so the Al won't corrode away as quickly.

The SS bolts you can get at any decent hardware store for a few bucks.

@Mbounds : a great thanks for your reply. I was sure that I was missing something as I didn't find any info about titanium part on hobie cat...I'll stick to stainless steel as everybody here.

Regards,
Mathias
