Well, I can't believe I'm actually considering buying the Evolve - they are expensive, but I now see how they can enhance my kayaking trips.

First, what is the warranty for this product?

Second, will the motor as configured as a mirage drive mount fit/store inside the Adventure kayak front main hatch when not in use?

Lastly, I assume these units are OK to use in salt water? Because that is were I will use it most.

Also, Any comment on my plan to use this in multiple boats, so I may have to get creative with my mounting or buy additional mounting hardware

Thanks in Advance.

Hi Yak,

For multiple boat use, you can do an above-the-deck mount and move the system from boat to boat. It's a little messier with all the lines running loose, but if you're only using this as an occasional auxiliary, it can save you some $. You can coil any excess lines for easy handling. Then if you ever sell a boat or upgrade, you can take the entire system with you without leaving holes. You might want an extra controller mount (mini ram ball) so the the controller has a "dock".

The drivewell mount fits easily in the TI front hatch. The AI is almost the same size opening so I am reasonably confident that it will fit without any difficulty.

Hobie will have to verify the warranty and salt water use (my guess is one year/yes). 8)

Never seen roadrunner be wrong before... but, hey... gonna be a first time.

Warranty is 2 years! :)

Correct on the Salt Water use... no problem. This is a completely sealed system.

If you want to do multiple installations (internal wiring), you can buy a wire harness for each additional boat.

I proudly own and use very often my second Hobie Mirage Adventure Kayak. I am seriously considering an Evolve kit but I only want to use it occasionally, because when I’m out ocean fishing; I want to be as light as possible and not drag around too much “stuff”. So here is my concern:
Can the mirage drive mounting area (which has cracked due to the torque of the mirage drive” on a few Mirage Adventure kayaks) handle the torque of this motor. And is there a special warranty for the hull? Should I even worry about that?
:)

No change in or need to change the warranty on the hull. The Evolve puts load on the aft shelf / not forward as during pedaling, but not nearly at the level that caused issues in earlier boats.

One more question if I may.

Will the battery fit through the 8" Hobie hatch?

I really don't want the battery weight to be in the nose and wanted to put in the stern through the 8" hatch?

I just gave it a try, and yep, it fits through the 8" hatch on my outback no problems. I store mine in the front hatch as the battery is so light, I don't think it makes much difference.
