I began discussing this in a different thread, decided to split it into its own and post a few pics.

Bought a CCM 79 '16 Keoke from a nice guy in Elkhart, IN last summer, honestly to get a trailer so I could buy a really pretty 83 Tequila Sunrise boat in great condition. When found, the Keoke boat was just out in the weather on a trailer, where it had been for a very long time. Originally I had little interest in the boat, since the price was right for the trailer almost alone. The sails were OK, no rips and not too worn, but main was bleached in bottom two panels from sun.

Decided to fix up the boat this summer instead of putting a "free" sign on it by the road.

When found, had all original "SE" setup. Mocha hulls, chocolate brown striping, black anodized frame, mast, and boom. Rudders fine but tiller was a length of aluminum tubing roughly bolted on.

Orange tramp (wrecked). Standing rigging looked original (threw it away, we don't need to have a stay snap in a breeze). No lines for running rigging, but all the original Seaway blocks were fine. The sails had most of the battens, no caps, and the main had a professional repair to the luff. Jib looked great. Numbers were in bad shape on the main, peeled them off. Peeled off the tattered "H" logos on the main too. One hull had a couple of slash cuts on the inside (how the heck did that happen) with a seriously amateur putty patch job which was a goobered mess. Otherwise hulls looked good beyond the gelcoat being badly oxidized.

Steps taken:

1. Original tramp removed.
2. Most rigging removed.
3. Powerwashed boat, blasted off peeling stripes and badly applied registration numbers. You can see the nice gelcoat underneath in the pics.
4. Sanded the damaged areas, applied fiberglass putty, re-sanded, and found a spray paint that is uncanny in terms of matching the gloss color of the boat. You can see the match in the pics. One pic shows the repaired and painted area, after it dried, and we wet it down to show how well it blends in. Also good news - the worst area is on the inside of the hulls.
5. Ordered new orange tramp. Ordered new pre 1994 standing rigging. Collected blocks from this boat and my other one so we have plenty to rig this boat.
6. Applied restorer to the anodized aluminum to bring back the deep black as best as possible.
7. Took mast to marina for repairs, the cleats were broken off and the cheek block was wrecked by the sun. All fixed up.
8. Ordered H16 running rigging kit.
9. Bought new Hobie jib batten set and caps. Bought missing batten for main.
10. Ordered tiller.
11. Ordered righting line from the guy on Ebay (the cool bungy righting rig, love the one on my other boat).

Yet to do:

1. Oxidation remover applied to hulls.
2. Poliglow cleaner on hulls.
3. Apply Poliglow per manufacturer directions.
4. Install tramp.
5. Get new stripes from sign shop, get registration numbers as well.
6. Remove, seal, reinstall drain plugs, rudder gudgeons.
6. Install tiller.
7. Step mast, install all running rigging.

Going for more of a "restoration" than an update.

I will post photos shortly.

Some pics showing the before and after on inside hull, and post powerwash look of hull after a little detail work on removing decal bits.
