Cincinnati Area Hobie Areas?

I am relatively new to hobie sailing in the Cinci area. These are the locations I am aware of...
The factors that are important..
- launch area (beach/docks can be rough on hulls)
- launch area sheltered from wind (launching hobie single handed is a handful)
- power boat traffic on lake
- lake size and orientation

1. East Fork - I haven't been to this lake and don't know much about it
2. Hueston Woods - I found the docks for launching can be a bit rough on the hulls. The lake is on the smaller side however there is a nice club which is organized for racing. No power boats allowed (only smaller motors)
3. Caesar's Creek - There is a nice beach launch. Power boats are allowed however weekdays or early mornings this is not a factor. There is an active sailing club on the lake however I haven't seen much hobie activity. The lake shape and size are fair.
4. Brookville - the lake size is large and has some great stretches (and wind). Power boats are permitted however the lake is large enough to so that this is not a factor. Launching from sailboat harbor single handed can be challenge.
5. Cowan - the lake size is smaller than 3 and 4. I have not launched in this lake so am not familiar with docks/beach availability. There is an active sailing club here however not familiar with presence of other hobie's.

Hueston Woods used to be a lot of fun... now there are geese crapping all over the grass and beach. I go to Brookeville, it is pretty big. People there are super cool and will gladly help you out if you need help launching. The only negative is there is no beach to pull your boat up on and relax. Maybe i will see you out there?

I live in Columbus,IN about 1 1/2 hours from Brookville and 1 hour from Lake Monroe in Bloomington IN.Monroe has a nice beach area to park your boats on at Paynetown State Recreation Area.Looking by the large parking lot behind bath house.Plenty of parking and just back up to the waters edge and launch from here and take your time.The camp grounds are clean and some electrical site have nice private coves you can sail out of with little sandy beaches too. Enough room to park a few boats on in those coves.

At Brookville, do you park/store your boat at the park? (is there availability?)

Do you find it difficult (or navigating out of) launching from the sailing-harbor area? I haven't launched from the sailing-harbor but seemed small and with west-ward winds might be difficult?

Your thoughts are much appreciated

I keep my Boats there, in the parking lot.
Hanna creek is the name of the launch/cove you're describing. most of the time the wind comes from the S-SW though are winds re mostly westerly. sailing out is no problem... putting in on holidays is out of control! but other than the lack of a beach (akin to the one described above) Brookvegas is a GREAT place to sail.

(is launching during weekends busy?) You mentioned holidays are crazy which is not good.

and no not usually, sometimes there's sea-cow traffic headed out/in to the cove but they do a great job of yielding to cats. th e rm is usually free, and if it's not wait! Don't go to the motor launch next door (the yokels don't like not being able to use our ramp, so in turn they don't really appreciate us using theirs)
