The hole for the mast step kit is broke off, it looks like cast iron, can i have the piece welded back on, i still have it, or is it very difficult to put a new mast bottom on, i have a spare, , it looks like pop rivets hold it to the mast,

thanks again

Hey Dennis, The base is cast aluminum, and doesn't weld very well. You're better off replacing it.

Drill the rivets with a 3/16" bit and pop new rivets.

And get the right rivet tool: http://www.harborfreight.com/heavy-duty ... 66422.html

You can also see it demonstrated here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9Af7Q58FRk

at the end it's shown how hard the smaller ones are to install steel rivets.

Hope it helps!
