I found some info online indicating shrouds should be adjusted on the H16 according to combined crew weight. The data is shown below. Does anyone use this method or have any comment on its veracity? I've never seen any recommendation by Hobie in this regard.

<125kg Bottom hole of stay adjuster
125-134kg 2nd Bottom hole of stay adjuster
135- 144kg 3rd Bottom hole of stay adjuster
>145kg 4th Bottom hole of stay adjuster

This really isn't practical (except on the boat it came from) because of the variety of shroud lengths and jib halyard tension preferences.

The take-away is that with more crew weight, you carry less mast rake = more power.

Not class legal, and in reality - totally unnecessary on a Hobie 16.

Really?!

Uneccessary I see, but man are they nice to hook up. I freakin' hate pins, especially with a eye swage.

Yeah, I thought about that too. Just how many different shroud length variations can there be on a Hobie 16? What is the difference (if any) between the comp tip and all-aluminum mast?

So rake is bad? I always sail with a crew weight of about 280 #'s and my side shrouds are in the second from the top hole.

Whilst shroud length may make the positions useless on another boat, the relationship between the hole used for differing weights still applies.

Whether you start with the 2nd, 3rd or 4th hole is irrelevant.

When the crew weight increases move up a hole as per the figures.
