Excellent videos, Tupelo!

I had to laugh when, in the weathercocking vid, you made a hard left turn and headed straight for shore at high speed. That was the behavior we were experiencing here in the Everglades last Jan under similar conditions. Here is my link--

That is definitely a wild ride when sailing before a strong wind and your rudder is overpowed. Your video caught the true essence of the experience. Nice job!

Thanks Chekika, it was my first experience of that particular trait on the Hobie AI, and very exciting, I though I was going to sail past my buddy, so took a steady left, if you have the sound on you can hear the gust take me, from then I was on full right rudder, but alas was nothing but a pasenger; my lines were crossed also hence the need to jump forward to release the sheet.

Oh how we laughed...afterwards by the campfire

When I made the initial turn I was in the seat as normal.
Once I realised my predicament I was off the seat grabbing the furling line..... and getting ready to pull the drive and jump overboard

Great stuff tupelo. That clip certainly conveys what it's like to nose dive.

I have done the same as you by mounting the camera low which I think gives a better idea of wave height but there are a couple of thread comments about cameras getting hit by waves, and that the increase in pressure may be greater than the pressure rating of the camera. This may have some cred, so I might do some calculations to see if this is the case. If so a small piece of 'Lexan' which could be cut, shaped and mounted in front of the camera would take away the initial wave impact. I think it's worth exploring rather than finding out the hard way when the camera throws in the towel.

Don't stop taking clips like this though !!!
