Hey Matt, I seem to have a funky serial number on my H16 that doesn't follow what I understood were the normal conventions of the code. Maybe you can help?

I have: CCMP9339M81H. What's throwing me are:

1. The second M: For the month made, is the 13th letter of the alphabet; Would this be January of the year following the model year? If not what month is it and how is it determined?

2. The H at the end after the year: I have no idea what this is for, do you?

Can you shed any light? Thanks in advance!

The second "M" is a placeholder character on early 80's HINs. It doesn't change.

81 is the model year.

H is the production month, starting with August of the prior year. Therefore, your boat was built in March of 1981.
