I'm also in Pensacola and am finishing my H-16 restoration. You can get the SS rivets you need at West Marine. Let me know if you need any with your boat. 390-2310.

I'm in Florida and I don't have a title. I wouldn't worry about it for now. If you have a problem you can take the S/N to the DMV and they can issue you a new title (as long as its not reported stolen). I don't think you will have a problem. The boogie man tends to leave sailboats alone as long as you aren't doing anything too reckless. Just make sure you are wearing a PFD and smile/wave.

monkeywithawrench,

Hey bud, I am in NC and I purchased my 86' H16 from a guy in Va. who never titled or registered in in Va., he bought it in Maryland (no tiltle or reg required there). So instead of showing a notarized bill of sale - I was able to write a statement (and have my sig. notarized) that the boat has not been registered or titled in any state, and I was able to get my reg and title for my Hobie easy peezie. Now before you do this you should call the Fla. wildlife office (or the dept that issues vessel titles) and have them look up the hull id # (on transom of each pontoon/hull) and make sure that the boat has not been titled before and also the off chance that i could be reported stolen (absolute worst case scenario-but you payed 0 for the boat so you would only loose the sweat you've put in so far). I hope this info helps!

-Cheers

FYI for you on the Title, I live in Freeport and sail all over Choctaw Bay. When I tried to register my H16 they told me it's not needed. In two years I've never had a problem and I've had my boat checked over at Crab Island by the Coast Guard. Good luck and hope to see you out on the bay. Check out Leeside park for a great launch area, you can drop the boat right off the trailer in the sand at waters edge.

See ya!

I'm 130 and not a chance of righting the boat even in 30 knot winds. I float 2 1/2 hours waiting for help lol

Have a bag on the way but no guarantees it will be enough. I will be testing this weekend I hope

No highjack intended, but...Cpt McCrary, that was a crazy day you had there and good thing you had the camera rolling for feedback. I would agree you need a righting bag.

Hey, I'm 17 also and only weight about 145, and I have no problem righting it if I flip (at least with a mast float) could do my Hobie 14 too with no mast float. But I go out on the lake no matter what the wind is, I can go in the heaviest winds no problem, I wouldn't try it on you first try but after you get experienced you'll have no problems. I also learned on a hobie with no experience, I just read a few articles online and went out there and it wasn't too bad. You just have to understand the basics and you should be good.
