I just purchased the Easy Rite righting system. It's basically a giant bungee which ties onto the rudder pins, and wraps around the front of the boat, traveling outside the pylons but inside the shrouds. I'm wondering if instead of tying the ends around the rudder pins, there is something less thick, like a metal ring or something that I could put around the rudder pins, then tie the bungee onto that. Has anyone done this? If so, can you link to a part that you used for the job?
Also, when you capsize, how do you get hold of the Easy Rite at the top hull? Do you stand on the lower hull to grab it? Or are you supposed to rig up some kind of pull cord between the two sides so that you can pull it down? Would appreciate any tips.
Paris.
