I have a Revo and an Outback. My car has a Thule rack that is a special order and screwed directly into the car rain tracks. The bars are only about 38", maybe 40" wide. I generally only transport one kayak, facing down. What does Hobie recommend is the best way, if any to transport 2 kayaks on such a narrow rack system?

My usual ride to launch is 150 miles round trip.

I bought a trailer and then store the kayaks on the trailer. We tried the roof top stuff at first, but the wife had problems helping me lift them to the top. Hobies aren't the lightest kayaks on the market. Personally, I would prefer a pickup with a bed extender, tried it with an SUV but two outbacks were too much.

Though I think a trailer would be great. I was hoping to get away without a trailer because in New Jersey, the tolls on the parkway would go from about $5 for my trip, to nearly $20 (ouch).

Acquire a long enough cross bar to transport the hulls rails down and side by side. I transport a Revo and an Adventure on my Dodge Caravan! Another alternative is acquiring the Thule(?) carriers which stow the hull rolled on its side. This is more expensive.

I use Thule 66" long bars in the Thule Towers and is wide enough for two revolutions side by side with bar to spare. I am sure two outbacks would fit also.

1" pipe insulation with velcro ties (4 each bar) cushion the load and make for easy slide on slide off.

A Thrill Ride is being dragged around in your kayak for 40 minutes by an extremely large fish.
