Hello, gang. I bought my first H16 back in 1980, my current H16 is 23 years old (sail # 90255) and finally made it back into the water this weekend, in Buzzards Bay (MA) in 15-18 knots wind, and it was awesome. She still looks good and goes fast. The date was July 3, 2010 and it will not be forgotten!
I have NO idea what's happening in the Hobie world these days.... I think I attended my last regatta in the late 1990s some time, and drifted away from my home fleet (496, out of southern NH.) Or maybe the fleet drifted away from me... I recall on a typical summer weekend I'd always see Hobies on trailers headed one way or another... but I haven't seen such things in years.
I noticed Division 12 has just one points regatta this year??? Can that be right?
Searching the Web for Hobie activity here in New England isn't getting me anywhere at all... half the links are dead and those that are alive haven't been updated in years.
I'm not sure I'm ready to jump back into the regatta circuit but I'm very curious to know what's become of the Hobie scene that I loved.... way back in the day.
