1985 purchased new, Rumrunner sails. I have not had to replace or repair much though the boat has been well used. I replaced shrouds, rudder cams, and one cam block. I did buy used sails and turned around and sold my old ones that were still serviceable. I wore the bottom out dragging it on the beach. A friend fixed it by forming channels with aluminum tape and pouring epoxy in about 2" wide and 1/4" deep on both hulls. Never had another problem or leak and that was several years ago.

A 1971 white hulled H16 with 1981 "Carumba" sails. Bought for $400. Had badly delaminated decks which I have pretty much fixed. Just found out (when flipped and righted) that the inner hulls are also badly delam. I think I will squirt expandable foam inside to repair.

Just purchased a 1988 with white hulls, and double prism sails. Hulls in good shape, few nicks scratches and chips but no soft spots.
Needs a little TLC but hope to be on the water in 3 weeks. Paid 750.00 for boat sails and trailer.

Been 20 years since I had my last H16 cant wait to sail again

I'm in CT - sail on Bantam Lake. We've got an '83, yellow Nationals hulls with '81 Nationals "Boomer" sails, #67032.

Love it!

Two Hobies...One Tolerant Wife.

#1) 1971 completely restored with fixed soft spots. Re-painted, sails repaired, cables replaced etc. Been sailing that one for awhile when I can.

#2) 1989 with a ton of oxidation and rainbow sails. The sails are going to be spares. Hulls are solid with beach wear, some scratches and age-appropriate wear. Disassembling the entire boat and re-doing the hulls this winter.

Any suggestions for beach-wear repair?
