Is there any way for getting your Hobie's age other then serial, as mine are not visible on the aft transom any more? Sail number or the pylon stamp help at all with this?

I was wondering if there is any other way to age your Hobie if the serial numbers have been lost to time(sanded or painted over?)

If a Hobie 16's serial ends in D898, then the boat was built in April 1998? Is that right?
