I have a new black mesh Hobie tramp that I'm putting on my 18. I want to replace the Magnum wing covers with matching black mesh covers. I understand that Hobie doesn't sell these any more. Does anyone know of a supplier that makes the same quality covers as Hobie used to offer? Thanks, Bob.

Hey this is funny, I put up a wanted ad for the same thing the other day...maybe if we can round up a couple more folks, Hobie might build a few?

I got a H18 SX black mesh wing tramp from Slo Sails in CA.

I found them on e-bay and they had great prices and the wing tramp is nicely built. I only needed one side to replace a missing one when I bought the boat and he worked with me and sold me one side for 1/2 the price of a pair.

I have a set from Salty Dog marine which are nice and fit well. Lets face it, you cannot beat the quality of Hobie produced tramps and nothing really ever compares. At a minimum make sure they use UV resistant thread to sew them.

So has Hobie stopped making wing tramps? Are there other parts of the 18 line that are no longer being supported? My local dealer said that he thought I got one of the last wing struts.

Do I need to start hoarding parts?

Yes and yes! There are many discontinued items currently and inventory will continue to dwindle on the remaining items. There are some aftermarket suppliers providing many of the parts now.

I have a SLO Sails tramp that is now going into the fourth season and it was very well made. Only catch, "SLO Sails" is a name earned not just by the name of the college town on the central California coast the loft resides in, it also unfortunately refers to the pace at which to expect your order. Pretty much a one person shop I got the impression and delivery was a lot later than estimated. Plan well in advance, especially when ordering in Summer when they are busy. The quality of materials and workmanship is excellent!

Only the older Magnum (shorter wing) tramps have been discontinued... all of the other tramps for 18's and SX are still produced and available through Hobie Dealers.

Most other parts for these boats ARE still available as well.
