i have 2 h18s side by side. just got an 82 and
want to swap some parts out with the older boat

1 pair is black anodized and has more to the casting
the others are not anodized- simpler design

which are the preferred ones to use?i understand i will need to do a bit of
change of placement of some of the hardware on the transom

also- i'm reading that the shroud pins are the major cause of dismasting.
are these on the boat or on the mast? easy to change out?

thanks for any input

The pins are located at the base of the two sidestays and go through the hull lip and bracket. They are threaded and held on with a nut.

If you dont know the age of the pins you should replace them. There are a couple of very good posts on here describing the correct angle of the pin head as well as information about getting the correct improved pin.

Search "Demasting - Broken Shroud Annchor Pin" for a good thread.
