Another good way to lift a kayak is in knee deep water. The boat is already two feet higher then picking it up off the ground. Give that a try you'll be surprised what a difference it makes.

I don't know whether these are available in your part of the world but I have found the Karitek loading system very good.
If only I had discovered it before I put the dents and scratches on my car.
