I have recently purchased a replacement set of battens for my 70's H16. They are longer then my previous set. How far beyond the edge of the sail should the tip of the batten protrude?

THey should only protrude about 3 cm (including the end cap). Just cut them off with a hacksaw.

batten length is espacially important on the jib. if too much sticks out the halyard and get clipped on the battens and eventually rip the caps off! it has happened to me!
