You may be starting something here. Hobie won't build the high performance pedal kayak that many of us are asking for. However, there is an Oasis of ideas out there, so surely with more BYOB construction going on, someone's Sporty Adventure Outback in their workshop could eVolve into a Revolution as they become a custom Outfitter of Mirage Kayaks in their Quest for speed.

Yes, many of us are still waiting for some Pro Angler to build the perfect kayak.

Thanks dtaski. I had that hull designed specifically for 36lb thrust (2 Turbo drives). No paddles, oars, sail, nothing but Mirage drives. My wife and I have since built another boat designed for Mirage drives and are working on a third, lightweight version. Our enthusiasm for Mirage drives hasn't gone away yet.

The boat in the website has had it's sea kayak rudder replaced with the big blade Twist-n-Stow which is far superior and less expensive!

I recently bought three 8" Hobie hatches, 2 seats with iComfort pads, T&S rudder and 2 turbo drives for the next boat. It's CNC cut 3mm ply with.... sorry, I get carried away.

Cheers,
Mack

Mark, I thought it was Melbourne's Yarra as I was looking at this thread!

Paul67, My wife and I have made the return trip up the Yarra to Herring Is. in 2hrs. We leave from the Wooden Boat Centre, Docklands where the boats are stored and built. Stop by some weekend and go for a pedal.

Don't know Lat and Lon but here's a map: http://flic.kr/p/8Eg2JL

There's a floating dock where many Hobie kayaks are launched from. They fish the pilings and cast under the docks around Victoria Harbour.
