 Post subject: Sailing without a boom

can you sail without a boom on a old hobie 18, if you could find a way to connect the sail directly to the main sheet?

Short answer... no.

The sail foot is longer than the trampoline area and it extends aft of the rear beam. You would have to modify the sail or add something like the boomlet used on the Sport version of the 17.
