You know when you are setting up and all you see are white caps on an inland lake, you're gonna have fun!

All other boats out today just had their main up- some had main double reefed with jibs....blowing high 20's, constant 18.

Raised the Hobie jib this time and had crew out on the trap, and we were litereally staying with the windsurfers. Some guy on a kite surfer was doing tricks right next to us for a good mile stretch. Thats's how fast she was.

Saw another Hobie 16, one out on the trap. We caught up with it, tacked with it, passed it, and shot off- they couldnt catch up!

Weather helm is HORRIBLE now with the proper rake setup. I need EPOs and newer castings.

Pitchpoled once when the crew went flying around the forestay...waves were about 2ft high...the boat just PLOWED right through them.

Awesome day- awesome boat. Pictures coming soon to show the setup! Still need to get neoprene on the side rails, they are really detracting from the look of the boat!

You can get a good picture of my mast rake in the pictures, and the lack of sidebar neoprene! Also notice the righting line sitting on the tramp...the attachment rope ripped off! I need to figure out a better way to install it. Other than that in the side bar/ race strip neoprene, the boats complete!

I know- I'm excited!

I wish the neoprene was installed....my crew couldnt get a footing on the side bars at all and was sliding everywhere...plus i think it will make the boat clean up a LOT when its on!

The pictures dont do it justice!

We all love days like that, except for the pitchpole.

It's the free ramp right outside of Sunrise Cove....our Hunter is at Aqualand, but their ramps suck for launching sailboats. This one is PERFECT because you literally just raise the sails on the ramp (the ramp is sand starting half way down) and fall off. The wind comes right around the island and gives you a perfect heading.

Was that the other 16 you saw on Lanier. Me and my dad were out on the lake and saw another 16 but didn't look at it to close. We put in a Van Pugh and were around there. We have only had the boat for a few weeks but had another older 16 for a few months until the hull split but are new to sailing. Yesterday was by far the most wind we had ever been out in. We will be going out some in the next few weeks if you are going out let me know and maybe we can meet up.

That was you out there! We thought you split those two islands and went down by holiday, so we stayed around and messed with the windsurfers...

sailing is fun on your own- but it gets a lot more fun when your close to other boats! that's why we came up on you!

What year is that sucker? In all honesty that was probbaly the max conditions a Hobie should be out in....with gusts that much, and as much chop as there was it was intense!

Did you see us pitchpole it? Hit a trough of a huge wave at full speed and my crew went flying around the forestay!

We should have stayed closer together the whole time and just gone back and forth, but if you're new to sailing i can totally see how that day was intimidating!

I usually only go up to Lanier if the winds supposed to be 10+. We've been really lucky the past few weekends as its bee 15-25+

So do we all want to put in at the same place at the same time maybe? I'm going to the free boat ramp right before the entrance of sunrise cove marina....The ramp turns into sand at the bottom, and theres a "beach" right next to the ramp that you can walk the boat over to (see pictures)

Do you guys want to meet up there at say 1230? Im going to be out solo on the trap, so I'll be bookin it. We can sail down to the X marker and run a course that the LLSC runs!

What do you think?
