'73 RESTORE DECK

I found out what materials I am going to use to restore the ol bitty, but I am concerned when it comes to the deck. The previouse owner changed the yellow gel-coats to an automotive red and on the factory non skid it wore off nicely, (If you dont mind two colors).
Is there any way of saving the factory non skid? Or, is there a product that I can use with paint to reaply a nonskid to the decks?

If you apply a good two part epoxy paint like awl grip or a urethane paint like Imron, all you have to do is mix some silica sand in with it and brush or roller it on. Voila "non-skid"

So do I take the belt sander to the factory non-skid? I currently have paint over the yellow gel coat . I think I might leave the outline of the non-skid and add the silika to the top coat. what is the concensus?

I am going with a two stage paint rather than gelcoat because of the simplicity issues. I don't beach much here in the NW as there are not a lot of beaches ( except mud or grass if it's early enought in the spring)
I am goint to fade the paint from white on the bow to a forest green on the stern and apply a green pearl to the top coat. but we have not come up with a deck color yet

I have tequila sun rise sails and thought about using on of those colors for the beck but I want to keep it light so it does not get too hot !

I had an issue when I was fixing some deck delamination on my 1980 H-16. After injecting the epoxy, my deck's non-skid area was filled in with the epoxy. I did not sand off the remaining pattern. Instead, I got a can of white polyurathane paint and a can of Interlux Interdeck (it has the sand already mixed in). I first put on 2 coats of the white polyurathane over the entire deck. Then after it dried, I taped off the raised areas of each hull and then painted on 2 coats of the Interdeck. After 2 years, the deck surface still looks great.
