Most impressive to me about the flier (is it "flyer" or "flier") are the "fun sails" that they plan.

Several times I have mentioned including fun sails at racing events. The racers are not interested. And I am not interested in the response from racers that go: come-on-just-race-and-you'll-be-hooked and we-have-great-parties.

Seems apparent to me that most people will step up into racing AFTER spending time with others fun racing, as does this bunch.

On a separate topic, it seems to me that the biggest problem for events is having the wind conditions cooperate. Those who live in areas where wind conditions are consistently good are very lucky.

I have only found a few who will keep an eye on wind conditions two to four days out and then start contacting each other to try and take advantage of it. (In my area, windsurfers are adept at it.)

If anyone has any practical solutions to that one, I'd love to hear it. Maybe "winds up" app for a cell phone?

Hobie fleet 444 is a perfect example of the type of fleet that we need to nurture and encourage. They are more into fun sailing and do long distance trips and have dinners and do stuff like going out on the lake and practicing boat righting collectively. I wish we had 50 fleets just like them. Just not 50 Karls. That would be too many.

What Karl says. That was my first thought. One world is not enough. Like some James Bond movie or something...
