I have never had a problem when mounting the transducer on an outfitter or oasis. There are a couple of things I look for when mounting a through hull transducer like the ones that come with the Lowrance fish finders sold by Hobie. By far what should be your first priority in placement is "transducer safety". Place it in the hull where you won't be dropping any other gear on and off of it. The worst thing that can happen is breaking your transponder loose from the hull. The number 2 issue you should consider is accessibility. You need to be able to access it if it becomes damaged or if you decide to upgrade and remove it at a later date. So assess where you place gear most often and which hatches you use most often when you on the water fishing, and don't place it there.
