Fish Finder Installation Instruction #12

Can anybody show me where on the Hobe website, or the Forum (that I just joined but can't see where to post) to find the answer to a simple technical question dealing with the Hobe Fish Finder Installation Kit.....specifically Instruction #12.

#12 Take the end of the red wire coming from the transducer and.....

IS there a Hobe GOD that can tell me where a ".... red wire...comes from the transducer". I have bought a Pirhana MAX with a transducer, but alas...not one where a red wire comes FROM it. Only one (1) wire comes from it....to be plugged into the back of the fish finder. But I DO have the red/black cable for connecting the battery pack to the fish finder but...no red wire...COMING FROM A TRANSDUCER. Is this a screamingly stupid question?...or a screamingly stupid misprint?

Electronically challanged senior yakker,...and obviously compu/forum use challenged too b/c I can't see where to/how to post such a technical support question....or who/what number to call. A basic customer service I would think would be highlighed on all websites. Tnx

The traditional DC voltage color coding for wiring is quite simple.
Red wire = 12 volt positive (+) connection.
Black wire = 12 volt negative (-) connection.

The transducer normally does not have any "flying leads" but a connector that plugs into the display head.
The #12 instructions sounds like a "mistake typo" and I would ignore it.

The RED/Black wires do indeed go to the battery terminals.

Doc: I believe you are totally correct...it's a typo. But b/c I'm so techno-anal challenged and that, I'm told by the web admin. that the Hobe engineers will get back to me, I'll confirm. An architect-type, I love to see techno-explanation clarity. Tnx, landplanman

The issue appears to be the brand of fish finder. The Lowrance we sell is what the kit and instructions were created for, so attach your pos / neg leads as described by Dr.SteelheadCatcher and the instructions... you may have to disregard the location of the leads and color of the wire for other brands of fish finder.

The black and red power lead is from the Lowrance transducer wire harness as described in the instructions.

The product description says the install kit can be adapted to most fish finder, but the instructions do not handle these variables.

I would also put an in-line fuse on the red wire before hitting the battery terminal. Check your manual for what type of fuse to use.

I didn't realize the Piranha series had them too. The HDS unit I put on the boat did. Nice surprise when I opened the box.
