Guys this is the funniest post I have read for ages. My ribs are hurting from laughing and I am grinning from ear to ear still now as I type. Personally I think your shrunken experience has been a good thing Gringo as you can now without any second thoughts throw the bloody thing out in the trash. And while you are at it, shrink the other one and turf it too. I just have never been able to figure what Hobie had in their heads when they decided to give these out with the boats. Difficult to handle, easy to lose overboard, hard to drink out of and not even big enough to have a decent pee in. The guy who just bought my last AI got himself a brand spanker as I never used it from the beginning favouring instead a standard bicycle drink bottle which I wedge into the drink bottle recess with the help of some 'pirate pillow' lagging.
Maybe you could make me an offer on the new one I got with the Dune AI, and I could assure you that any offer would be considered favourably.....Pirate

Ha ha, nice try, but I am not about to make an offer on a water bottle that you have already confirmed won't contain the contents of your bladder.

Very simple fix - nice blob of sillycon on the bottom then place it firmly on a brick - allow silly to cure and it'll never dare tip over again

... prolly wont fit into the dishwasher again either so its TWO fixes in one ! I should charge double

A brick? That's no longer a water bottle. It's starting to sound more like an artificial reef....or something from a Cheech and Chong movie.

I'd be inclined to put in a bid Pirate, if I didn't know you'd already tested its pee holding capacity. :?

Pirate, technical question. Do you empty the pee bottle each trip or wait til it is filled up? If the latter, i would recommend the pre shrunk version, as long as nothing gets stuck. I also have learnt to turn off the dishwasher heater when washing the dog. Tiny german shepherds look just silly.
Like others I have been greatly amused by this subject. Surely I have better things to do. Like go sailing!

I'm still astonished by the concept of peeing in one's own water bottle. I'm not being judgemental, mind you. Have just never considered it.

I thought that was why there were quick releases on the Mirage Drive.

I mean, it's right there.....

Oh come on. Don't tell me you guys haven't used the head belowdecks on the TI....

We're going sailing tomorrow. Probably Sunday, too. Should be about 15 miles, with an 18 kt. wind reach going up and a run coming back. We like to run by the beach and see what's washed up. Not many people on those beaches.

This trip, one of our weekend favorites with an east wind:

Have a great sail Gringo but don't pick up any old Hobie bottles off the beach as you never quite know what has been in them....Pirate

I think La Gringa keeps ours pretty well sterilized with rum and OJ. Not many of us know which of our bad habits might do us in some day but by golly she ain't gonna die of scurvy.

Hey at least you have something to wash your hair with at the end of a good sail!

Judging from the Australians I worked with over there ( Perth, Karratha, Dampier, Jervis Bay) those two bottles probably don't match their capacity.

Need something that can hold at least a 12 pack of Emu or Swan Lager.

These days most of us Aussies install a Hobie live bait tank for such an occasion...Pirate

shrinkage, it must have been cold in the TI!
well pop it down to live and learn :!:

Sounds like the wife has given it to you (you know she is always right!).

FYI, it is dangerous to wash your dog in the dishwasher; you may come out with simular shrinkage :o

I dunno. Maybe you Ozralites just need to learn to let go of it. I have seen how emotionally attached you can become but remember It's only beer. There's plenty more.
