First time at sea (UK)

Been out twice on the ocean on the Ti now - solo both times and in the rear seat.

Very light winds both ocassions. All going to plan. Top speed so far is 7.9 miles per hour. I am tentatively creeping up on speed whilst getting a feel for things.



Today ventured into Conwy natural harbour via an estuary bottleneck. All happened rather swiftly as the tide flushed me in - lots of pedaling furiously and slaloming through all the anchored boats. Legs a bit wobbly now.





Winds easterly so very cold though - roll on Spring.

Thanks for the report Julian. Takes me back. Looks a bit like where I used to sail in the Solent, Southampton. What footwear are you wearing? That mud can be a (censored). Look at the backdrops you will have for some of your photos though. Hard to beat !

P.S. I didn't know ' a female dog' was a censored word ? Lighten up fellas !!

Good to see UK post. There seem to be very few of us. I had my 2nd sailing trip in my AI this last weekend. I'm just chuffed to bits how easy it is to roll up and launch. I've also taken it out a couple of times without the outriggers and rig. I'm pleased now I bought when I did at the end of last year as come the summer should be confident.

I've a few questions re. sailing but maybe its for a different thread.

Cant wait to pull a bass lure under sail!

ive got a cold, and have lost the previous 2 versions of this reply, so i'm going to be brief.
what do you wear under your drysuits, and for how long have you sailed comfortably so dressed?
do you have built in silicone socks, and do you wear neoprene socks over them, under your footwear, or not?

i sail from newquay harbour, but havent since november last year. the itch is returning, and i have a drysuit now. to whet your appetites, i'm adding a photo or two.

Hi ya buddy. It was your Al I saw and our chat in Newquay that prompted me to buy an Al. I love it and am sure there are so many more good times ahead.

How you manage to walk that hill with your AL I will never know! It must be a good leg workout on the way back up. What lure are you trolling. I usually go for a trusty J13 Rap, in a blue/silver. Its a floating lure, so pops up as soon as you stop, so you avoid bottom snags. Effortless trolling under the sail is something I am really looking forward to.

I have a cheap 2nd hand drysuit. Latex socks built in, and I wear a pair of socks under it and pair of wetboots over top. Then I just have some 1st layer thermals on under the suit. At the moment I'm only going out for an 1 - 1 1/2 hrs.

You look well organized but thought I should mention my mate's invention which might be helpful for taking your AI up the hill.
He has made a swivelling front jockey wheel that attaches through the mirage drive well and uses the click n go mechanism to lock it in place. He also has a couple of butterfly nuts underneath to keep it secure.
With this in place and the heavy duty cart and wheels, he has a trike which he can pull along without even needing to use his hands! He simply ties his bow line around his waist! He did say he could improve on that by using a broader strap around his waist.
Just thought I'd mention this in case it's of any use.
I don't have any photos of it yet but am awaiting the delivery of my new TI on 19 Mar & expect to commission him to make me one for moving it.
