This may be a simple and obvious question, but I've spent time searching and can't find an answer so hoping someone can help. I fish solo out of an outfitter and like to troll quite a bit. My problem is that the molded rod holders are behind me and I can't see the rod tip. The front rod holders are too far for me to reach.

Now go ahead and laugh but I really am opposed to drilling to add custom rod holders to place them in a more convenient location. I'm wondering if there is a simple attachment that fits into the built in rod holders that would allow me to put a custom rod holder in that spot without drilling. At least this way I could then angle the rod forward so I could see the tip.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Drill some holes. It ain't yours till you custom drill some holes in it. I've mounted stuff all over mine. One thing I did was take some 1-1/4' PVC pipe, glue a female fitting on the end. Saw a pipe nipple in half and weld a plate with 4 holes in it to the non thread end and bolted a ram rod holder to the plate. You have to put a couple wraps of duct tape at the bottom and top of the pipe to make it fit snug in the rod holder hole. Then you can adjust your pole any where you want.

Thanks Mike. If I don't warm up to drilling holes, I'll definitely take a look at your idea. Seems fairly straight forward. I'm not real handy at building custom things but I think I can manage this. I would have thought that a supplier would have taken advantage of the opportunity to build an adapter for the built in rod holders. Then again, most folks probably just fire up a drill so I guess I can understand why.
