There is hope! Sorry I am really bad about posting info on this forum I will do better from now on. Thanks to Splash we now have the Hobie fleet 33 web address http://www.hobiefleet33.com it redirects to our Facebook page for now and we are working on a wordpress site as we speak.

There are lots of cat sailors in south Texas they are great people and will trip over each other trying to give you a hand.

There are 3 places in the Houston area people tend to sail thier cats

10 Mile ( Social Hobie Fleet 33)

Texas City Dike (http://www.tcdyc.com)

Cat Alley (Pirates Beach Galveston)

Also there is a distance race that ends in Galveston every year and anyone can race in the last leg called the Dash. see http://www.gt300.com for more info.

Ledfoot, SplashTX, and anyone else in South Texas or within a reasonable drive of Dallas or Shreveport:

You'll find that several H17 sailors from the San Antonio/Austin area and one from Galveston are regulars at Fleet 23 events in Dallas. It would be a haul for you, but they always have a great 17 fleet. Their next event is the Leukemia Cup, 7-8 May, at Dallas Corinthian Yacht Club. Notice of Race not yet published (at least not that I can find). Don't get this confused with DCYC's dinghy weekend, 30 April - 1 May. Visit Fleet 23 at http://www.hobiefleet23.com/, and DCYC at http://www.dcyc.org/. At the last two Leukemia Cups, they've had fleets of 16's, 17's, 18's and 20's. It's a great event!

Shreveport Yacht Club and Hobie Fleet 401 will sponsor our Holiday-In-Dixie regatta on 30-April - May 1. Fleet 401 just got our charter and we'd love to have a bunch of Hobies show up to participate in our inaugural event and herald the return of organized Hobie racing to the NW LA and East TX area. Our site hasn't been updated yet, but look us up at http://www.shreveportyachtclub.memberlodge.com/. NOR should be up soon. All you coastal types consider heading north. We'll offer Division 14 points for Hobie 18's only, but will welcome all Hobies. Five of one class gets their own start and trophies.

Let me know if you've got any questions.

That's exactly the kind of thing a fleet needs to do! We'll have to do something like that up here in Shreveport.

That sounds good. I am trying to get any sailors in south Texas together. The TCDYC site is excellent. I plan on heading up there as well.

If you are available come down to Surfside for our Fleet 33 launch on April 16 http://surfsidesailing.wordpress.com/2011/03/25/ive-been-counting/
You can camp on the beach for free.
