The second hand Sport I bought for my wife had been stored on the deck of a yacht and the peddle shafts were pretty rusted and the peddles needed replacing. Seems I live about 160 kilometres, (100miles), from the only Hobie dealer in New Zealand and I have found he is a bit slow with out of town orders and the peddle parts would probably have to be imported anyway I went to my local engineering shop to see if they could help. The solution was simple and cheap. We got a pair of exercycle peddles from the local cycle repair shop and screwed them straight in. They have suggested we replace them every few years to avoid rust. At a cost of NZ$42, (about US$30), this seems like a cheaper solution than genuine Hobie parts.

I see the words peddle, paddle and pedal often used out of context on this forum. I'm not picking on the OP, I'm just showing the proper usage for each word.

peddle: (verb) : to travel about with wares for sale; broadly : sell

peddler: (noun) one who offers merchandise (as fresh produce) for sale along the street or from door to door

pedal: (noun) a foot lever or treadle by which a part is activated in a mechanism

pedal: (verb) to use or work a pedal

paddle: (noun) a usually wooden implement that has a long handle and a broad flattened blade and that is used to propel and steer a small craft (as a canoe)

paddle: (verb) to go on or through water by or as if by means of a paddle or paddle wheel

Source: Merriam-Webster Dictionary

PS: F@¢k, I'm starting to sound like my dad, correcting people on word usage.
