Okay I have been watching videos on youtube on hobie 16's using spinnakers, and that looks cool and all but what I don't understand is how they don't pitch pull as soon as they put it up. My question is how does a spinnaker work on a 16, I just don't understand it.

The spinnaker crates lift on the bows, pulling them out of the water rather than driving them down.

Ah, so what you're saying here, is that EVERY 16 should have a spinnaker...

...y'know...

for safety, right?

Keen to know the cost and what's involved, too.

A spinnaker kit from Hobie is about $1,500 the last I checked (haven't checked lately). And YES, you can make "A" setup (not necessarily exactly like Hobie's) yourself !!! :)
