Mission Bay, CA Beach Storage

Can anyone comment on the beach bar storage in Mission Bay, CA? I think it would be great to store mast up there but want to know if there are many problems with vandalism, boat damage during storms, parking near the storage areas, etc...

The storage is good if you have an older beater boat that you don't mind getting quickly worn from the elements. If you have a newer boat it would definately stick out from the crowd of all the other boats so make sure to take all easily removable parts off of it, rudders, blocks, etc. If you leave the tramp on the boat it may be used for some after hours activities. No storms in SD so you shouldn't have to worry about that sort of damage. Parking is good for most all of the storage areas that I've seen except maybe on the most crowded of the summer holidays.

I believe there are only two places that you can store a H 16 at a beach bar in Mission Bay. Both are near Riviera Shores. One is by Fanual St. and the other is closer to the Ingraham St. bridge. You can store a H 14 at any beach bar.
I believe the Lifeguard Service (619)221-8899 is in charge of the beach bars.

I think there's also some at Santa Clara Pt., El Carmel Point and Bonita Cove.

Greg - You're right and there are quite a few other beach bars around West Mission Bay, but I believe the only two that are for boats over 14 ft. are at Fanual St. near the playground and the next one that's closer to the Ingraham St. bridge. I believe the Lifeguard Service has jurisdiction over them.

The limit is 16 feet on the beach bars and I heard the waiting list for the beach bars is very long. Just last weekend I went sailing at santa clara point and I saw two 6 year olds jumping on a old nacra. I told them to stop but they kept it up. So your boat will only survive a few years. Most boats on the bars are crap.
