I had that sail design on my old 75 H-16. Sail 27640 I loved it!

We had the first 16 in Fleet 34 in the early 70's. Solid red McKibbon sails #198!

I have had my Tequila Sunrise boat since new in 1978. Has seen a lot of water from Central Minnesota down to the Sea of Cortez (Rockypoint, Mexico)

My first boat had Tequilla Sunrise which I suppose is my favorite, then I got the corumba on an 81 and ended up using 78 sails that are all white except the single blue stripe at the top of the masts. The 78' sails were in the best shape by far.

You will need to find a sail loft that can make you a custom set. There are lofts that make aftermarket sails and sell online. So start with Google.

Any dark color that you use in salt water will need to be rinsed frequently (with fresh water) to keep them from looking like they have leprosy from all the salt buildup from the spray.

I just bought a Hobie 16 with tequila sunrise sails. But the hulls are white. Does anyone have any idea what year it might be? The guy I bought it from didn't know, I don't know much about these boats. Thanks.

Dang, guess I'm not that observant of sail colors. I know I have gold and yellow and orange and white in the main and some of that in the jib. My boat is an 83, but i don't see any sails in the link that look like mine. Next time I go out I will look more closely and report back.

77 with flamer sails.

man I love that pic of the tequila sunrise with yellow hulls....I wish I had my dad's 1978 with those sails. I sold it not long after he died and wish I had it back....or at least the sails. Sail # 37171 if I remember right.

Here's how you determine the year of your cat, I pulled this off this forum once:

Hulls - What year / model year is my Hobie?
CCML1944A888 ( CCM L 1944 A 8 88 )
CCM - Coast Catamaran Manufacturer
L - The letter in that position "L" stands for the model of boat/kayak. Each boat model (H16, H17, H18 etc.) starts out with a different letter. If more than 9,999 of that model were built in one year, there would be multiple letters for a single model. In example, there were so many Hobie 16's built in some years that the model letters include CCMB, D, E, F, L, O, P R and S (also do to several other factors). The letter must change if we build more than 9,999 in one year.
1944 - Serial number sequence number
A - "A" is the month for January, "B" February and so on.
8 - year which was built in 1988
88- Your boat is a 1988 model year. Model years are like cars. The new year starts in September.
If the last of the sequence read I889, The boat would have been built in September of 1988 as a 1989 Model Year boat.

Hope it helps!
