I have a Cuda 350 FF/GPS that I am going to mount on my 2010 Oasis . I am thinking about mounting it to the hatch lid in front of back seat . Are there any cons to mounting it in this location ?

If you launch from the beach and have to jump in and out it may get in the way.

Good point ...
I really doubt I will be doing any beach launches through the surf anytime soon . Probably a bit more excitement than I am ready for !
Thanks for your input ...

I've mounted the 350/s on the right side gunwale in front of the rudder t-handle. Had it there for my '08 and now my '11 Oasis, Revo and Adventure. This keeps it accessible, but out of the way for entry, hanging legs over sides and getting fish in hull. Mounted on the hatch, I feel, will get in the way of everything. Sit in the yack and put something of equivalent size there and see if it interferes before you install.

Thanks for your input Bob ...
I was a bit concerned with it getting in the way of the mainsheet on the right hand side and possibly the furling line on the left .
Did you use a spacesaver ram mount to mount it on the gunwale ?
I actually had the unit sitting on the hatch and I was sitting in the kayak and it seemed ok but , maybe I am missing something . With the ram bracket and pivot of the unit itself it almost lays flat . I figured if it didn't work I could always replace the hatch and it would be back to like new .
Thanks again ...

Yes, I used the narrow space saver Ram mount. I don't use the sail, so that wasn't a concern for me.

I've finally learned, from past mistakes, before drilling holes and mounting anything, to get out on the water in the yak and get a feel for where accessories should be placed. Getting in/out of yak, paddling, pedaling, reaching for rod, fighting fish, etc; a few inches and location can make a big difference in comfort and accessibility!
